Fake ========================= 1. Introduction Fake is a game where you play as an art forger working for the myserious mafioso "Don Key". The tools of your trade are scissors, glue and sets of stock photos - that is, in order to reproduce paintings you must use parts from other images. 2. Basics When the game starts, select a painting to reproduce by clicking on it. Fake is controlled with your mouse only. You start by picking out a set of stock photos from the list to the right, then select an image to use. The image will appear in the center of the screen and you can cut out a pattern from it. The game will then copy the part you cut out to a new layer and you can move, rotate and scale this layer until it fits where you want, then select another stock photo and repeat the procedure. When done, the green button in the upper-right corner will submit the painting for evaluation and allow you to save the image before selecting a new painting to reproduce. 3. Working with stock photos When you pick a new painting, Fake will list all of the available photo sets in a list to the right on the screen - choose one that you would like to work with by clicking on it. You may later replace the set with another one by clicking the magnifying glass in the top-right corner, although this will reset your work with the painting. Once you have a set, images will appear to your right - click on any of them to work with it. The image will appear in the center of the screen and you can use the left mouse button to cut out a shape from it by specifying corners - right mouse button removes the last added corner. When you are done, complete the shape by clicking near the start of it and it will be copied to your workspace. 4. Working with the image The images you cut out appear in layers in a list at the left of the screen, you can use the left mouse button to select the active layer or to drag layers up or down to change what layers appear on top. You can also use the right mouse button to delete a layer, or the mousewheel to scroll the layer list if they will not all fit on the screen. The arrows at the top-right can also be used for this purpose. You can move the active layer around by left-clicking on the image in the center of the window and dragging it around, you can also rotate it by right-clicking or change the size by clicking with both mouse buttons. 5. Completing the job The blue button on the top-left of the screen will allow you to change the mode the painting is drawn - behind your work, in front of it or not at all. Keep in mind that this has no bearing on the result of the image. When you feel satisfied with the image, click the green button in the upper-right corner of the window to submit it, Don Key will grade the image and offer you an opportunity to save the image complete with stats to your hard drive. You will then be returned to the title screen where you can attempt to reproduce another painting.
